Description

The Shoei Neotec 3 in the Anthem TC-5 graphic is a flip-up touring helmet built for riders who want the convenience of an open face at a fuel stop and the coverage of a full face on the highway. Its locking flip-up mechanism holds the chin bar securely in the raised position, which is what allows the helmet to carry P/J double homologation — approved for use as both a full-face and a jet helmet.

Development focused on the details that matter on long days in the saddle: a redefined visor shape for a better seal and less optical distortion, an enlarged QSV-2 drop-down sun visor, closable brow and chin intakes with rear extraction, and revised cheek pads with a Noise Isolator and wind deflector to cut intrusion at speed. A wind-tunnel-shaped shell with integrated spoiler keeps things settled, while the Shoei Comlink provision lets a communication system sit flush without disturbing the helmet's lines.

Suited to touring, commuting and all-round road riding, and supplied ready to go with a Pinlock sheet, breath guard and chin curtain.

Operations & maintenance

Fit the helmet with the chin bar closed and latched, and check the 360° pivot lock has fully engaged before every ride — never ride with the chin bar raised.
Adjust the Micro Ratchet chinstrap so it is firm under the jaw; the ratchet can be operated with gloves on, but set the strap length once so it latches at the same point each time.
Remove the centre pad, cheek pads and ear pads for washing; hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse thoroughly and air dry away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Clean the shell and visor with lukewarm water and a mild soap on a soft cloth. Avoid petrol, thinners, benzine, solvent-based cleaners and insect removers, which can damage the shell finish, the visor and the internal sun visor.
Soften dried insects by laying a damp cloth over the visor for a few minutes rather than scrubbing, which can scratch the coating.
Handle the Pinlock sheet by its edges. It has a moisture-absorbing coating that should only be wiped gently with a soft, damp cloth — do not use cleaners or dry-rub it, and keep the visor open when parked so trapped moisture can escape.
Use the sun visor slider through its full travel and retract the QSV-2 fully before closing the helmet away; never rely on it as your only eye protection in wet or dusty conditions.
Check and clear the intake vents and the insect filter periodically, particularly after long trips or riding through insects.
When fitting a communication system, use the Comlink provisions rather than cutting or modifying the EPS liner or shell.
Store the helmet in its bag in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and avoid leaving it on a mirror, seat or hot exhaust where the liner or shell can be deformed.
The Emergency Quick Release System is for first responders only — do not use the EQRS tabs for routine cheek pad removal.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even where no damage is visible, and replace scratched or hazed visors rather than polishing them.
