- Clean the inside of the rim thoroughly and remove all moisture and debris before fitting — rim tape will not adhere correctly to a dirty or wet surface.
- Centre the tape over the spoke holes, ensuring full coverage of the entire spoke bed with no gaps around nipple holes.
- Work the tape down evenly to avoid air bubbles or folds that could create pressure points against the tube.
- Ensure the valve hole in the tape aligns precisely with the rim's valve hole before seating the inner tube.
- Inspect rim tape whenever a tyre or tube is changed; replace if the tape shows cracking, lifting edges, or any perforation over spoke holes.
- Do not reuse rim tape once removed — adhesion is compromised and a fresh strip should be fitted.
- Store unused strips rolled and sealed in a cool, dry location away from UV light to preserve adhesion.
