The RK 428KRO clip connecting link is the genuine RK joining link used to close a 428 pitch RK chain. It is the part you need when fitting a new chain, re-joining a chain after it has been shortened to length, or replacing a joining link that has been removed, damaged or lost.
It suits riders and workshops servicing smaller-capacity machines that run 428 pitch drive chains. The clip-type design uses a spring clip rather than a riveted pin, so the link can be fitted and removed with basic tools and without permanently pressing and peening the pins — handy for maintenance, transport and roadside repairs.
Sold as a single connecting link. Always confirm the link matches your chain's pitch and series before fitting, and use a rivet-type link where your motorcycle or chain manufacturer specifies one.

- Confirm the link matches your chain before fitting — it is intended for 428 pitch RK chain of the matching series, and should not be mixed with other pitches, series or brands.
- Where the motorcycle or chain manufacturer specifies a rivet-type joining link, fit that instead; a clip link is not a substitute where riveting is required.
- Clean the chain ends and check the pins and plates are free of grit and burrs before assembly.
- Press the outer side plate on squarely using a chain press or link tool rather than hammering it, so the plates are not distorted and the link does not bind.
- Fit the spring clip with its closed end facing the direction of chain travel on the top run, so the open end trails.
- Check the clip is fully seated in the grooves of both pins before riding, and re-check it after the first ride.
- Set chain tension and rear wheel alignment to the motorcycle manufacturer's specification after joining the chain.
- Lubricate the connecting link at the same intervals and with the same chain lubricant used on the rest of the chain.
- Clean with a chain-specific cleaner and a soft brush; avoid wire brushes, harsh solvents and high-pressure washers, which can damage plates and seals.
- Use a new connecting link each time the chain is split — do not refit a clip that has been removed, stretched or distorted.
- Inspect the link at every chain adjustment and lubrication interval, and replace it if the clip is loose, deformed or missing.
