The Rocky Creek Designs MotoPressor Jump Starter 500A is a compact lithium power pack that lets you restart a flat battery without waiting for help. It delivers a 500A starting current from a 10,000mAh cell, enough for motorcycles, ATV/UTV, watercraft and petrol car engines up to 5.0L.

The complete kit weighs 715g and packs into a 184 x 140 x 70mm carry case, so it stows easily in a pannier, top box or under a seat. A USB output doubles the pack as a power bank for a phone or tablet, which matters just as much as the jump leads when you are stopped somewhere remote.

Charge the pack fully before first use, and recharge it fully after every jump start.
Top the battery up periodically while it is stored — a lithium pack left flat for long periods can lose capacity permanently.
Check the charge level before a long ride or trip; a jump starter is only useful if it still holds charge.
Connect the red clamp to the battery positive terminal and the black clamp to the negative terminal, and never let the two clamps touch each other.
Make sure the ignition is off before connecting, and disconnect the leads promptly once the engine has started.
Do not use the pack on diesel engines or on petrol engines larger than 5.0L, and do not attempt repeated back-to-back starts without letting the unit rest.
Wipe the unit and clamps with a dry or lightly damp cloth; keep battery acid, fuel and solvents away from the housing and lead insulation.
Store the kit in its carry case in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and keep it out of the weather — it is not designed to be left exposed on the bike.
Inspect the leads and clamps for cracked insulation, corrosion or loose crimps before each use, and retire the leads if damaged.
Because the unit ships as UN3481, carry it in cabin baggage rather than checked luggage when flying, subject to your airline's lithium battery policy.
