Description

Putoline HPX R 2.5W is a fully synthetic racing fork oil in a 1 litre bottle, blended from highly refined synthetic base oils and an advanced additive package. The light 2.5W grade suits forks that call for a low-viscosity fluid, or riders blending grades to fine-tune damping.

It is built for competition-level suspension work on both road and off-road machines, resisting foaming and oxidation while helping guard against corrosion and weeping seals. A sensible choice for anyone servicing forks at home or in the race workshop who wants consistent damping feel over a long session.

Putoline is a Dutch manufacturer with close to five decades behind it, producing lubricants developed specifically for motorcycles, scooters and quads in its own facilities. Always check your fork manufacturer's recommended oil grade and fill level before use.

Key Features

  • Fully synthetic fork oil formulated from highly refined synthetic base oils
  • Light 2.5W viscosity grade for forks specifying a low-viscosity fluid
  • Developed for Grand Prix level road and off-road suspension use
  • Advanced additive package resists foaming under hard, repeated damping cycles
  • Helps protect internals against corrosion and oxidation
  • Formulated to help prevent leaking fork seals
  • Very high viscosity index of 458 for stable damping across temperature swings
  • Low pour point of -33°C for cold-morning consistency

Operations & maintenance

Always follow your fork or motorcycle manufacturer's specified oil grade, oil quantity and air-gap (oil level) figures — these take priority over any general guidance.
Set the oil level with the fork springs removed and the fork leg fully compressed, using a fork oil level tool for repeatable measurement on both legs.
Fill slowly and stroke the damper rod several times to purge trapped air, then allow the oil to settle before taking a final level reading.
Use the same oil in both fork legs and keep the volumes matched left to right so damping stays balanced.
HPX R grades can be blended with each other to fine-tune damping; do not mix with unknown or dissimilar fluids already in the fork.
Drain the old oil completely and flush the fork internals before refilling — leftover contaminated oil will dilute the fresh fluid.
Change fork oil at the interval in your service schedule, and earlier after heavy race use, muddy or dusty conditions, or if the oil looks dark, milky or smells burnt.
Inspect fork seals and dust seals at every oil change and replace any that are weeping; clean seals with a seal-cleaning tool rather than sharp implements.
Keep the bottle tightly capped and store it upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, away from heat and ignition sources.
Avoid contaminating the oil with water, dirt or solvent residue — use clean measuring jugs and funnels dedicated to suspension work.
Wipe up spills promptly, avoid prolonged skin contact, and dispose of used fork oil through a licensed waste oil collection point, never down a drain or into the ground.
