The LS2 MX701 Explorer Carbon in the Frontier Black/Blue colourway is a full-face adventure helmet built for riders who spend long days moving between bitumen and dirt. The carbon fibre shell keeps claimed weight down to around 1450 grams, and the helmet is homologated to ECE 22.06.
It runs a true twin visor system — a wide, scratch-resistant outer visor supplied with a Pinlock 70 MaxVision insert, plus a drop-down internal sun visor — along with an adjustable, removable peak so you can set it up for trail speeds or strip it back for highway work. Chin and top vents feed channelled EPS with rear exhausts, and the fully removable, washable liner is breathable and hypoallergenic.
Offered in three shell sizes so the fit and proportions stay right across the range.

- Fasten the double D-ring at every ride: thread the strap through both rings, back through the inner ring, and pull snug so the helmet cannot roll forward off your head.
- Remove the liner and cheek pads and hand wash them in lukewarm water with a mild soap, then air dry away from direct heat or sunlight — do not machine dry.
- Clean the shell and peak with a soft cloth, warm water and mild soap only. Petrol, solvents, ammonia-based cleaners and harsh degreasers can attack the shell finish, EPS and visor.
- Soak stubborn insects on the visor with a damp cloth for a minute before wiping, rather than scrubbing dry — the anti-scratch coating and the Pinlock insert both mark easily.
- Handle the Pinlock 70 MaxVision insert by its edges; if it fogs at the seal, check the insert is seated evenly on both pins and that the silicone bead is in full contact with the visor.
- Use the visor lock button to secure the outer visor at speed, and retract the internal sun visor fully before riding at night or in low light.
- The peak is adjustable and removable — refit the screws firmly by hand and check them periodically, as vibration on rough surfaces can loosen them. Removing the peak reduces buffeting at highway speeds.
- After wet or dusty rides, remove the liner and let the shell dry out fully to prevent odour, and clear grit from the vent sliders and visor mechanism.
- Store the helmet in a helmet bag in a cool, dry place. Never hang it on a mirror or handlebar, and don't rest it on the seat or tank where it can fall.
- Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even if there is no visible damage — the EPS compresses internally and will not protect you a second time.
