Clean the shell and visor with lukewarm water and a mild soap only — petrol, solvents, ammonia-based glass cleaners and other harsh chemicals can attack the finish and the shield coatings.
Lay a damp cloth over dried insects or mud for a few minutes to soften them, then wipe away gently rather than scrubbing the anti-scratch coating.
Treat the Pinlock 70 MaxVision insert carefully: its anti-fog layer is absorbent, so rinse with clean water, dab dry with a soft cloth and never wipe it dry or scrub it.
Remove the comfort liner and cheek pads and hand wash in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent, then air dry out of direct sunlight and away from heaters — never machine dry.
Refit the liner and cheek pads fully and check the Emergency Release tabs are correctly seated before riding.
Check the peak fasteners are firm before each ride; remove the peak for sustained highway speeds if you find wind buffeting tiring.
Fasten the double D-ring on every ride so the strap is snug under the jaw — never ride with the strap loose or clipped only to the retaining tab.
Keep the vents clear of mud and dust after off-road rides so airflow through the channelled EPS is not blocked.
Store the helmet in a cool, dry place in its bag, away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours and exhaust heat, and never hang it on a mirror or bar end.
Replace the helmet after any significant impact, even if there is no visible damage, and replace a heavily scratched or crazed visor rather than polishing it.
