The Leatt X-Frame Hybrid Knee Brace is the top-level cage-type brace in Leatt's range, supplied as a matched left and right pair in black. An injected carbon composite frame carries the load around the joint, while asymmetrical hinges keep the inner side slim against the bike and use metal gears on the outer side for precise, durable movement.

Impact protection is handled by a separate sleeve rather than being built into the frame, so there is less bulk over the knee and more freedom to move under race pants. A numbered strap system, interchangeable hinge padding and a low-profile shin plate let you dial in the fit, and the brace is certified both as a medical device and as impact protection.

Fit each brace to the correct leg and work through the numbered straps in order so tension is spread evenly rather than concentrated at one point.
Dial in the fit using the supplied interchangeable hinge padding instead of over-tightening the straps.
Set the hyperextension limiters to the angle that suits you (5º, 10º, 15º or 20º); if you are returning from a knee injury, follow the advice of your doctor or physiotherapist.
Position the low-profile shin plate so it sits inside your boot, and check it is not fouling the boot cuff before riding.
Separate the sleeve from the frame before washing; wash the sleeve gently in cool water with a mild detergent and air dry away from direct heat or sunlight.
Wipe the carbon composite frame, hinges and shin plate with a damp cloth and mild soap, and clear mud, sand and grit from around the hinges after off-road rides.
Avoid solvents, fuel, bleach and tumble dryers on the frame, sleeve and straps.
Inspect the straps, buckles, hinge hardware and padding for wear before each ride and replace worn components.
Store the braces clean, dry and out of direct sunlight — never pack them away damp.
After a heavy impact, inspect the frame and hinges closely and replace the brace if anything is cracked, bent or no longer moving smoothly.
