The Leatt 5.5 Chest Protector Pro Evo is a full-coverage body protector for off-road riding, pairing a hard outer shell with Leatt's FlexMesh Pro ventilated armour to guard the chest, back and shoulders. Flex joints and a multi-plate articulating build let the protector move in three dimensions with the rider, so coverage stays put without fighting your position on the bike.
Compared with the previous Chest Protector 5.5 Pro HD (up to 2023), this Evo version is 30% lighter and 50% more ventilated — a meaningful difference on long motos and hot days. Adjustable hard flank panels look after the ribs and sides, an extended back plate adds coverage, and adjustable over-the-shoulder straps dial in the fit.
Front and rear plates are removable, and the slimmer BraceOn system lets you run a Leatt neck brace either over or under the shirt. Suited to motocross, enduro and trail riders who want certified impact protection that breathes.

- Choose your size by rider height: S/M suits 160–172 cm and L/XL suits 172–184 cm, with 2XL covering the top of the 160–196 cm range.
- Set the over-the-shoulder straps first so the chest plate sits centred over the sternum, then adjust the hard flank panels so the ribs are covered without pinching when you're in the riding position.
- If you run a Leatt neck brace, fit the brace and protector together using the BraceOn system and re-check strap length — the two are designed to work as a system, so don't leave the brace resting on an unadjusted protector.
- Remove the front and/or rear plates only if you intend to ride with reduced coverage; note that removing a plate removes the certified impact protection for that area.
- Wash the harness and FlexMesh Pro sections by hand in cool or lukewarm water with a mild soap, rinse thoroughly and let the protector air dry away from direct sunlight, heaters or exhausts. Avoid machine washing and tumble drying.
- Wipe the hard shell with a damp cloth and mild soap only. Keep solvents, petrol, brake cleaner and harsh detergents away from the shell, mesh and straps.
- Rinse off mud and sweat after wet or dusty rides rather than letting them dry in, and make sure everything is fully dry before storing.
- Store hung or laid flat in a cool, dry place. Don't leave it compressed under gear or baking inside a hot vehicle, as heat and pressure can distort the plates.
- Before each ride, check the straps, buckles, plate fasteners and flank panels for wear, cracks or missing hardware.
- After any significant crash impact, inspect the shell and armour closely and replace the protector if you find cracks, deformation or damaged mounting points.
