The 4.5 Junior Chest Protector combines the best of soft and hard shell protection by making use of deflecting hard shell as well as 3DF AirFit soft impact foam. Check the size against the rider's height (134–146 cm or 147–159 cm) rather than age, and re-check as the junior grows — an oversized protector will shift on impact.
Decide up front whether it will be worn over or under the jersey, then set the fit so the chest plate sits centred and the protector doesn't restrict arm or neck movement.
If a Leatt neck brace is used, mount the protector through the BraceOn fitting system and confirm the brace seats correctly on the shell before riding.
Clean the hard shell and foam with a damp cloth and mild soap only; do not machine wash, tumble dry or iron.
Avoid solvents, petrol, degreasers and harsh detergents, which can attack the shell and the 3DF AirFit foam.
Rinse dried mud out of the ventilation slots so airflow isn't blocked, and clear grit from between the articulating plates.
Air dry naturally in a shaded, well-ventilated spot — keep it away from direct sunlight, heaters and hot exhausts, as heat can distort the shell and foam.
Store flat or hanging in a cool, dry place rather than compressed at the bottom of a gear bag.
Inspect the shell, plates and foam after any crash and replace the protector if you find cracks, deformation or foam that no longer springs back.
