- Confirm your model year falls within 2008-2017 for the RM-Z450 before fitting — fender profiles and mounting points changed between generations.
- Fit using the original Suzuki mounting hardware and any factory washers or grommets; transfer them across from the old fender rather than discarding them.
- Start all fasteners by hand and tighten them evenly and progressively — overtightening can dimple, stress or crack the polypropylene around the mounting holes.
- Check the fender bolts after your first ride and periodically thereafter, as vibration and hard landings can loosen them.
- Wash with warm water and a mild soap using a soft sponge or cloth, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Avoid harsh solvents, petrol, brake cleaner and abrasive scourers, which can dull or craze the gloss surface.
- If pressure washing, keep the nozzle well back and off a direct point-blank angle to avoid marking the plastic or forcing water into fasteners.
- Remove mud and roost soon after riding, before it dries and has to be scraped off.
- Store the bike out of prolonged direct sunlight where practical to help the white finish resist fading.
- If you fit graphics or number plate decals, clean and dry the surface first, and remove old adhesive gently rather than with aggressive scraping.
- Replace the fender if it develops cracks around the mounting points or subframe area — a split fender can spread under load.
