The Pirelli Scorpion MX Soft is a dedicated competition motocross rear tyre built for the softest going — deep sand, wet mud and loose, churned-up loam. Its paddle-style knob layout scoops into soft terrain for drive, while the generous spacing between blocks keeps the tread clearing itself instead of packing up as the moto wears on.

It suits motocross and off-road racers running an 18-inch rear wheel on enduro and cross-country machines who need predictable forward bite and stable cornering when the surface gives way. Marked NHS (Not for Highway Service), this is a closed-course competition tyre and is not intended for road use.

Supplied in 120/90-18 with a 65M load and speed rating, tube type construction, so an inner tube is required.

Fit an inner tube — this is a tube type (TT) tyre and must not be run tubeless.
Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified tyre technician using proper tyre levers and rim protection; avoid damaging the bead during mounting.
Observe the directional rotation arrow on the sidewall when fitting the rear wheel.
Use a rim lock where the wheel is fitted with one, and re-check spoke and rim lock tension after the first ride on a new tyre.
Check and set cold tyre pressure before every ride to the pressure recommended by your motorcycle manufacturer for the conditions; soft-terrain racing pressures are low, so pressure loss shows up quickly.
Take a few easy laps on a fresh tyre to scrub in the knobs before pushing for lap times.
Inspect the tread between motos for torn, chunked or missing knobs, cuts and sidewall damage, and replace the tyre if the casing is exposed or damage is found.
Wash off mud and sand with water and a soft brush after riding; keep petrol, solvents and chain lube off the rubber.
Store the tyre upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from electric motors or ozone sources.
