The Pirelli Diablo Rosso II is a sport tyre developed for the road, carrying over compound and profile thinking from Pirelli's Superbike programme and adapting it for riders who spend their time on public roads rather than on a circuit.

This is the 190/50 ZR 17 rear fitment, the common size for litre-class sportsbikes, big nakeds and sports tourers. It suits riders who want dependable grip on a favourite stretch of road along with reasonable tyre life, rather than a track-focused tyre that has to be warmed up to work.

Always confirm the size, load and speed rating against your motorcycle's handbook or tyre placard before fitting.

  • Bi-compound rear tread
  • Extreme Cohesion Compound (ECC) for increased mileage
  • Larger contact patch for increased grip
  • Tread pattern with reduced land/sea ratio, putting more rubber on the road
  • Superbike-derived technology adapted for everyday road use
  • Radial, tubeless (TL) construction
  • 190/50 ZR 17 M/C rear fitment
  • Load index 73, speed rating W

  • Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using proper equipment — do not attempt to lever it on by hand.
  • This is a tubeless (TL) tyre and must be fitted to a rim rated for tubeless use; fit a new valve and valve seal at the same time.
  • Follow the direction-of-rotation arrow moulded on the sidewall, and fit it to the rear wheel only.
  • Scrub the tyre in gently for the first ride or two: avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and full lean angles until the mould release finish has worn off the full width of the tread.
  • Check pressures when the tyre is cold and set them to the figures on your motorcycle's tyre placard or in the owner's handbook — never bleed pressure from a hot tyre.
  • Inspect regularly for cuts, bulges, uneven or scalloped wear and embedded objects such as nails or glass, and check the tread wear indicators in the grooves.
  • Replace the tyre before the tread reaches the legal minimum depth, and replace it if it has been run flat, heavily kerbed or damaged in the sidewall.
  • Puncture repairs on a speed-rated tyre should only be assessed by a tyre professional, and a repaired tyre may no longer be suitable for its original speed rating.
  • Pair with a matching front tyre in the size your motorcycle specifies; mismatched or heavily worn fronts will upset handling.
  • Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from solvents, fuels, oils and electric motors that generate ozone.
