Wipe tools down with a clean dry cloth after each use, particularly after wet-weather roadside work, to stop surface corrosion on the plated finish.
Apply a light film of general-purpose machine oil or corrosion inhibitor to the sockets, extension bar and hex keys if the kit is stored on the bike long term.
Store the case in a dry spot under the seat or in a pannier; if the space is exposed to road spray, seal the kit in a zip-lock bag first.
Match the hex key or bit exactly to the fastener before applying force — a loose fit will round both the tool and the bolt head.
Treat this as a roadside and light-adjustment kit, not a workshop set: the mini ratchet and mini spanner are not intended for high-torque fasteners such as axle nuts or sump plugs, and should never be extended with a bar for extra leverage.
Keep each tool in its moulded slot in the case so the kit stays quiet under the seat and nothing goes missing on the road.
Check the full contents against the tool layout after every use, and replace the cable ties as you consume them so the kit is complete next time.
Clean grease and chain lube off the pliers and wire cutters before packing them away, and keep the cutter jaws free of grit so they close cleanly.
If a soft gel handle becomes oily, wash it with warm soapy water and dry it fully; avoid solvents and degreasers, which can degrade the grip material.
