The Oxford Cargo Net is a simple, effective way to hold soft luggage, a jacket, a helmet bag or a load of shopping on a motorcycle seat, rack or top box. Elasticated webbing stretches over an uneven load and pulls it down tight, while the hooks anchor to grab rails, rack rails, pillion pegs and luggage loops.

It suits commuters, tourers and delivery riders who want a compact, low-cost restraint that lives under the seat or in a tail bag until it is needed. This is the black colourway; Oxford also offers the net in other colours and a second size.

  • Strong elasticated webbing that stretches over irregular loads
  • Nylon-coated hardened steel hooks
  • Approximately 30cm x 30cm (12") square when relaxed
  • Multiple hook points for spreading tension across a load
  • Black colourway
  • Packs down small enough to store under a seat or in a tail bag

  • Hook the net to solid anchor points such as grab rails, rack rails, luggage loops or pillion footpeg hangers — never to bodywork, indicators, cables or brake lines.
  • Spread the hooks evenly around the load so tension is shared, and point the hook openings downwards or inwards so they cannot flick towards you if one releases.
  • Stretch the net over the load rather than relying on the load to hold the net; check that nothing can slide out through the mesh and that no webbing hangs near the chain, sprocket, wheels or exhaust.
  • Re-check tension after the first few kilometres and at each fuel or rest stop, as soft luggage settles and the elastic relaxes.
  • Keep the webbing clear of hot exhaust pipes and mufflers, which will melt or weaken the elastic.
  • Rinse with clean fresh water after exposure to road salt, mud or sea spray, then allow it to dry fully before storing.
  • Store the net loose and dry, out of direct sunlight, rather than leaving it permanently stretched — prolonged UV exposure and constant tension shorten the life of the elastic.
  • Inspect before each trip: replace the net if the webbing is frayed, perished or has lost its stretch, or if any hook is bent, cracked or has the nylon coating worn through to bare steel.
  • Do not use solvents, petrol or harsh degreasers on the webbing, and do not modify or knot the elastic to shorten it.
