Roll the top closure down several times and secure it before riding — the closure is water-resistant rather than waterproof, so use dry bags or plastic liners for electronics and documents in sustained rain.
Wipe the waxed cotton outer clean with a damp cloth and allow it to air dry naturally at room temperature.
Do not machine wash, tumble dry, dry clean or use detergents, solvents or hot water, as these strip the wax finish from the canvas.
Keep the bag away from direct heat sources such as heaters, exhausts and hot engine cases; waxed cotton can soften and mark in high heat.
Shake out grit and empty pockets after dusty or wet rides, and dry the bag fully before storing it.
Store loosely packed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place rather than compressed or sealed in plastic, which can crease the wax finish.
Secure the bag to the pillion seat or luggage rack with appropriate straps or a cargo net, and check the tension at every fuel stop.
