Oxford 2.0m X 14mm Monsterchain Long End Link

The Oxford Monster Chain is a heavy-duty motorcycle security chain built for riders who want serious resistance to bolt croppers and leverage attacks. Its 14mm hex-profile links are forged from Ni-Cro-Mo steel reinforced with titanium alloy, and the whole chain is wrapped in a protective sleeve so it will not mark paintwork, wheels or bodywork.

At 2.0 metres it is long enough to secure a bike to a ground anchor, post or another machine, while the elongated end link is sized to accept the shackle of a large padlock. Pair the chain with a padlock of the same Sold Secure rating — the chain is supplied without a lock, and insurance approval depends on the whole combination.
Pass the chain through the frame or swingarm rather than a wheel or brake disc, and loop it to a ground anchor or immovable object wherever possible.
Keep the chain as short and as tight as you can, and keep it off the ground so it cannot be hammered or levered against a hard surface.
Keep the protective sleeve in place over the links to avoid rubbing paint, wheels and bodywork.
After use in rain, on salted roads or near the coast, rinse the chain with fresh water and dry it before storage.
Wipe a light film of chain or general-purpose lubricant over the links to discourage surface rust; wipe away the excess so it does not transfer to the sleeve or your gear.
Slide the sleeve back periodically and inspect the links and end link for corrosion, cracking, distortion or signs of attack, and replace the chain if any is found.
Store the chain dry and coiled — under the seat or in a pannier for transport — rather than leaving it sitting on wet ground.
Do not cut, weld, heat or drill the chain; doing so destroys the hardening that gives it its cropping resistance.
