The Oxford Heavy Duty (HD) Chain Lock is a mid-range motorcycle security chain built around a 9.5mm hardened square link chain and a double locking padlock. At 1.5 metres it is long enough to loop a wheel and frame through a ground anchor, post or railing, while staying light enough to carry with you on the bike.
It suits riders who want a genuine deterrent for street and overnight parking without the bulk of a full ground-anchor chain. The padlock doubles as a disc lock, so the same unit can be used on its own for shorter stops, and the chain is supplied with three keys plus Oxford's key replacement service.
Part of a three-length range: 1.0m (OF157), 1.5m (OF159) and 2.0m (OF160).

- On receipt, note the key number and store it somewhere safe and separate from the lock — it is what allows a replacement key to be made through Oxford's key replacement service if all three keys are lost.
- Where possible, pass the chain through the rear wheel and frame and secure it to a ground anchor or other immovable object rather than locking the wheel alone.
- Keep the chain up off the ground and reasonably taut when locked, so it is harder to attack with leverage or hammer blows against a hard surface.
- For short stops, the padlock can be used on its own through a brake disc as a disc lock — always remove it before riding off.
- Close the key dust cover after locking to keep water, road grit and salt out of the barrel.
- Wipe the chain and padlock down after wet or salty rides and allow them to dry before storing.
- Occasionally apply a light spray lubricant to the lock mechanism and shackle, then wipe away any excess so it does not attract grit or mark paintwork.
- Carry and stow the chain in a bag, sleeve or pannier to avoid dragging the links across paint, wheels or exhausts.
- Store in a dry place; do not leave the chain permanently on damp ground.
- Stop using the lock and replace it if the mechanism becomes stiff or will not lock smoothly, or if the chain links, shackle or lock body show damage.
