The Oxford Quartz XD6 is a compact disc lock for motorcycles and scooters, designed as an everyday deterrent for street parking, work commutes and overnight storage. Its alloy body carries a 6mm hardened locking pin that passes through a brake disc aperture, so the wheel cannot turn while the lock is fitted.
A twin spar lock chassis adds strength and cut resistance around the locking mechanism, and the high-visibility yellow and black finish makes the lock obvious to opportunists at a glance. Sized to suit modern motorcycle and scooter discs, it packs down small enough to carry under the seat or in a tail pack.
Supplied with a minder cable, and the lock body includes an attachment eye so it can be tethered or secured as part of a wider setup.

- Fit the locking pin through one of the apertures in the brake disc, positioning the lock body so it cannot foul the caliper, fork leg or swingarm as the wheel moves.
- Attach the supplied minder cable to the handlebar or another obvious point every time you lock up, so the lock is visible before you set off.
- Never attempt to ride or roll the bike with the lock fitted — the lock body can strike the caliper or fork and damage the disc, brake components and the lock itself.
- Check that the pin is fully engaged and the lock is secure before walking away, and remove the key rather than leaving it with the bike.
- After riding in rain or on salted or gritty roads, rinse the lock with fresh water and dry it thoroughly before storing.
- Keep the key barrel and locking pin free of grit, and apply a light spray of a purpose-made lock lubricant periodically; avoid thick greases and oils, which attract dirt into the mechanism.
- Avoid placing the lock directly on the ground or in a pocket full of debris — carry it in a pouch, tail pack or under the seat.
- Store a spare key at home rather than on the bike or with the everyday keyring, and replace the lock if the pin becomes bent, the mechanism sticks or the body shows impact damage.
