The Oxford HardcoreXC13 is a heavy-duty chain and padlock set built for securing motorcycles and scooters at home, at work or on the street. It pairs a 1.2m length of 13mm square-link hardened Ni-Cro-Mo chain with a hardened steel padlock using an 11mm concealed shackle, and a fabric sleeve over the chain to help keep paintwork and rims unmarked.
It is aimed at riders who want a recognised high-security lock rather than a deterrent-only chain. The HardcoreXC13 carries Sold Secure Motorcycle Gold approval and an ART 4-star rating, and is accredited Secured by Design under the Police Preferred Specification.
At 1.2m, the chain is long enough to pass through a wheel or frame and around a ground anchor or fixed object, while remaining manageable to store.

- Pass the chain through the frame or a wheel and around a ground anchor or other immovable object, then lock it — a chain looped only around the bike offers far less protection.
- Keep the chain and padlock off the ground where practical; a lock resting on concrete gives an attacker a solid surface to strike against.
- Seat the padlock shackle fully into the chain links and check the lock has engaged by pulling on it before you walk away.
- Close the sliding key dust cover whenever the lock is left outdoors so grit and water stay out of the barrel.
- After rain, road salt or coastal use, rinse the chain and lock with fresh water and dry them before storing.
- Lubricate the lock barrel and shackle periodically with a light lock-suitable lubricant; wipe away any excess so it does not attract grit.
- Keep the fabric sleeve in place over the chain to protect paintwork, wheels and exhausts, and wash it if it becomes grit-laden.
- Store spare keys somewhere safe and separate from the bike, and note the key number in case you need replacements.
- Inspect the chain links, sleeve and lock body regularly for damage, corrosion or signs of attack, and replace the lock if any part is compromised.
- Do not use the chain for towing, lifting or recovery, and remove it before riding off.
