The Oxford Beast Chain is Oxford's largest and strongest motorcycle security chain, built from 22mm hardened steel links in a 1.5-metre length. Each link carries real mass — the chain alone weighs 12kg — and the whole run is covered in a protective material sleeve so it won't mark paintwork, rims or bodywork while it's threaded through your bike.
It's aimed at riders who want serious static security at home or in a garage rather than something to carry under the seat: think chaining through the frame or rear wheel to a ground anchor or other immovable point. Used together with the Beast lock, the combination holds a Sold Secure Powered Cycle (Motorcycle) Diamond rating and a 5-star rating from ART, having survived attacks including bolt croppers, drills and a sustained angle grinder attempt.

- Pair the chain with the Oxford Beast lock (sold separately) — the Sold Secure Diamond and ART 5-star ratings apply to the lock and chain used together, not the chain on its own.
- Thread through the frame or rear wheel and around a ground anchor or other immovable point, then take up the slack so the chain can't be laid on the ground or braced against a hard surface.
- Keep the chain off concrete where possible; a chain resting on the ground gives a thief something solid to strike or lever against.
- Leave the protective sleeve in place at all times — it's what stops the links marking paint, rims and exhausts.
- Wipe the chain dry after use in rain or near salt air, and apply a light film of protective oil to the links to keep surface corrosion at bay.
- Store indoors and out of the weather when not in use; at 12kg this is a static home or garage chain rather than something to carry on the bike.
- Inspect the links and sleeve from time to time for cuts, deformation, stretching or wear, and replace the chain if you find damage or evidence of a tampering attempt.
- Use it for security only — never as a lifting, towing or recovery chain.
