- Confirm fitment against your machine's exact model year, displacement, and VIN before installation; consult the Polaris workshop manual for the correct OEM cross-reference part number.
- Replace the oil pump chain whenever visible signs of wear, stretch, binding, or noise are present — do not re-use a worn chain after disassembly.
- Inspect the oil pump drive sprocket, driven sprocket, and any chain guides or tensioners simultaneously; replace worn ancillary components at the same service interval to prevent premature chain failure.
- Apply a light coat of fresh, clean engine oil to the chain and all associated components during assembly to avoid a dry-start condition on first run.
- Torque all fasteners strictly to the values specified in the Polaris service manual for your model — do not estimate or use generic torque values.
- After installation and before returning the vehicle to normal operation, start the engine briefly and verify oil pressure is within specification and that no abnormal noise is present.
