The Nelson-Rigg SE-4040 Hurricane is a 40-litre waterproof tail bag built for riders who need their kit to stay dry no matter what the ride throws at them. It is made from UV-coated PVC tarpaulin with electronically heat-welded seams and a watertight roll-top closure, so the main compartment stays sealed in sustained rain, spray and dust.
It mounts across or along the seat or tail section using Nelson-Rigg's RIGG STRAP system, and the straps double as a standalone tie-down set when you need them elsewhere. Removable internal panels hold the bag's shape when it is part-packed, while a purge valve and dual-purpose carry handles let you compress the load down for shorter trips.
Suited to touring, adventure and commuting riders, and equally at home on an ATV/UTV, PWC or snowmobile.

- Roll the top down evenly and clip both quick-release buckles before riding — the roll closure is what seals the main compartment, so an incomplete roll can let water in.
- Use the purge valve to push trapped air out after packing, then pull the dual-purpose carry handles across the bag as compression straps to stop the load shifting.
- Fit the four RIGG STRAPs to solid anchor points, tension them evenly, and keep straps and loose tails well clear of the exhaust, chain and rear wheel.
- Re-check strap tension after the first few kilometres and at fuel stops, as loads settle once the bag is compressed.
- Leave the removable internal panels in place if you want the bag to hold its shape when part-packed; take them out for flat storage or a thorough clean.
- Clean the UV-coated PVC tarpaulin with a soft cloth, warm water and mild soap. Avoid solvents, petrol, harsh degreasers, machine washing and tumble drying.
- Keep the reflective accents free of dirt and road film so they stay visible at night.
- After wet or salty rides, rinse off salt and grit, then open the bag and air it out until the interior is completely dry before storing.
- Store loosely rolled or unrolled in a cool, dry place out of prolonged direct sunlight, rather than folded hard along the same creases.
- Do not overload the bag — keep the packed weight within the load limit specified for your bike's seat, rack or tail section.
