The MTX Parts MTXC11014 is a replacement throttle cable for Harley-Davidson models, supplied in an oversize length that runs 6 inches longer than standard. It suits riders fitting taller or wider handlebars that need extra cable reach, as well as anyone replacing a stretched, frayed or sticky factory cable.
Construction follows the rest of the MTX cable range: a nylon inner sleeve to keep the inner wire moving smoothly, wrapped in a black vinyl outer housing that shields the cable from weather and abrasion. MTX cables are built to meet or exceed OEM cable specifications, so they can be used as a straight replacement or as part of a handlebar upgrade.

- Check the cable against the one being replaced before fitting, and confirm the oversize length suits your handlebar height and routing.
- Route the cable in smooth, gentle curves — tight bends, kinks or pinch points against the frame or tank will cause stiff operation and premature wear.
- After fitting, set throttle free play to the figure in your model's service manual and make sure the throttle snaps fully closed on its own.
- With the engine off, turn the handlebars lock to lock and confirm the cable does not tighten, bind or pull the throttle open at either extreme.
- Secure the cable clear of exhaust components, steering head and suspension travel using the factory guides and clamps.
- Periodically inspect the outer housing for splits, chafing or crushing, and the ends for fraying or corrosion; replace the cable if any are found.
- Keep the cable ends and adjuster threads clean, and wipe away road grime with a damp cloth rather than harsh solvents, which can attack the vinyl housing.
- Store spare cables coiled loosely in a dry place — avoid hanging weight on them or coiling them tightly, which can deform the housing.
- Recheck free play after the first few rides, as new cables can settle slightly in service.
