Check the cable against the one being replaced before fitting, and confirm the oversize length suits your handlebar height and routing.
Route the cable in smooth, gentle curves — tight bends, kinks or pinch points against the frame or tank will cause stiff operation and premature wear.
After fitting, set throttle free play to the figure in your model's service manual and make sure the throttle snaps fully closed on its own.
With the engine off, turn the handlebars lock to lock and confirm the cable does not tighten, bind or pull the throttle open at either extreme.
Secure the cable clear of exhaust components, steering head and suspension travel using the factory guides and clamps.
Periodically inspect the outer housing for splits, chafing or crushing, and the ends for fraying or corrosion; replace the cable if any are found.
Keep the cable ends and adjuster threads clean, and wipe away road grime with a damp cloth rather than harsh solvents, which can attack the vinyl housing.
