The Motion Pro Pivot Suspension Vise is a workshop holding tool for suspension service work, supplied with a drain pan to catch oil as it comes out of the component being worked on.

It suits home mechanics and workshops servicing motorcycle suspension — rebuilds, oil changes and seal work — where a shock or fork needs to be held steady and angled while you work on it.

Make sure the vise is secured firmly and the suspension component is fully clamped before applying any force.
Clamp on the strongest part of the component and avoid excessive clamping pressure on shock bodies, reservoirs and fork tubes, which can distort them.
Position the drain pan under the component before opening it so oil is caught rather than spilled.
Empty and wipe out the drain pan after each job; dried suspension oil and fine metal particles are easy to transfer back into a clean rebuild.
Wipe oil, solvent and cleaner residue off the tool after use and dry it thoroughly.
Apply a light film of oil to bare metal surfaces and threads before storing to keep corrosion away.
Keep threads, pivots and adjusters clean and free of grit so they move smoothly and hold position.
Store in a dry area; avoid leaving the tool sitting in solvent or parts-washer fluid.
Periodically check that fasteners and pivot hardware are still tight, and stop using the tool if anything is cracked, bent or worn.
Collect used suspension oil and dispose of it through an oil recycling or waste-oil facility, not down a drain.
