Motul Bicycle Chain Lube Dry is a bicycle drivetrain lubricant formulated for use in dry conditions. It suits city bikes, road bikes and mountain bikes, and works on the whole drivetrain rather than the chain alone.
Built on Ester technology, it is aimed at riders who want consistent chain lubrication through dry, dusty riding without a heavy, tacky film. It is suitable for both conventional bicycles and e-bikes, making it a practical bottle to keep on the workshop shelf if you run more than one bike.

- Clean and degrease the chain and drivetrain before lubricating, and let the components dry — fresh lube over grit and old residue will hold contamination against the rollers.
- Apply along the chain while slowly back-pedalling so every link and roller receives lubricant, rather than dosing one spot heavily.
- Allow the lubricant to penetrate the links, then wipe the outer plates with a clean rag; surface lube attracts dust and does no lubricating work.
- Keep the product off braking surfaces, disc rotors, brake pads and tyre sidewalls, and mask or shield them if you are applying near the rear wheel.
- Best suited to dry riding; if you regularly ride in sustained wet or muddy conditions, a wet-conditions lubricant is the more appropriate choice.
- Re-apply based on how the drivetrain sounds and feels — a dry, noisy or stiff chain needs attention, and dusty riding shortens the interval.
- On e-bikes, keep lubricant away from the motor housing, connectors and battery contacts, and wipe up any overspray straight away.
- Store the container upright, closed, in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources, and keep it out of reach of children.
- Read and follow the safety directions on the label; dispose of the empty container and any used rags in line with local waste rules rather than in general recycling.
