Motul 5100 4T is an ester-reinforced synthetic engine oil in a SAE 10W-50 multigrade, packaged in a 4 litre bottle. It is formulated for four-stroke motorcycle engines that share their oil with the gearbox and a wet clutch, which is the usual arrangement on road, sport and adventure bikes.
The ester base stock lifts anti-wear performance and helps protect gear teeth under load, while the oil film holds up better at sustained high temperatures. It is JASO MA2 (2023) compliant for consistent clutch behaviour and meets or exceeds API SP, with low phosphorus and sulphur content.
Suited to riders stepping up from a mineral oil who want a stronger protection margin without moving to a full-synthetic price point. Always confirm the viscosity grade and service standard specified in your motorcycle's owner's manual before filling.

- Check your owner's manual first and only use this oil if the manufacturer specifies a 10W-50 grade meeting API SP and JASO MA/MA2.
- Suitable for four-stroke engines with a wet clutch; do not use where a JASO MB friction-modified oil is required, such as many scooters with an automatic centrifugal clutch.
- Drain the old oil while the engine is warm so it flows out fully, then allow it to drain completely before refitting the sump plug.
- Fit a new oil filter and a new sump plug sealing washer at each oil change, and torque the plug to the manufacturer's specification.
- Refill gradually and check the level via the sight glass or dipstick using your bike's specified method; do not overfill.
- After filling, run the engine briefly, switch off, let it settle and re-check the level, then inspect the sump plug and filter for leaks.
- Observe the oil and filter change intervals in your service schedule, and shorten them for track use, short trips or dusty conditions.
- Do not mix with other oils or add aftermarket oil additives, as this can alter the friction properties and affect clutch feel.
- Store the bottle upright, tightly sealed, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not pour used oil down drains or into the ground; take it to a used oil collection or recycling facility.
