Motul 5100 4T Ester Synthetic 10W-40 is a four-stroke motorcycle engine oil reinforced with ester base stock, supplied in a 4 litre bottle. It is formulated for engines that share their oil between the engine, gearbox and a wet clutch, so it lubricates all three without causing clutch slip.

It suits road bikes, commuters, tourers and other four-stroke machines whose manufacturer specifies a 10W-40 oil meeting JASO MA2 and API SP. The multigrade viscosity gives easy flow on cold starts and a stable oil film once the engine is up to temperature, while the ester content adds anti-wear performance for gear-driven components.

Always check your owner's manual for the correct viscosity, specification and oil capacity before use.

Check your owner's manual for the specified viscosity, oil specification and sump capacity before filling — this oil suits engines calling for a 10W-40 meeting JASO MA2 and API SP.
Drain the old oil with the engine warm (not hot) and the bike upright, so more of the contaminated oil and suspended debris comes out.
Fit a new oil filter and a new sump plug washer at each oil change, and torque the drain plug to the manufacturer's specification.
Fill to the manufacturer's capacity, run the engine briefly, then let it settle and check the level on the sight glass or dipstick with the bike upright — top up to the mid-point rather than overfilling.
Recheck the level and inspect for leaks around the drain plug and filter after the first ride following a change.
Follow your manufacturer's service interval for oil and filter changes; shorten it for track use, frequent short trips, dusty conditions or sustained high ambient temperatures.
Do not mix with other oils or additive packs if it can be avoided, and do not use an oil with friction modifiers not rated JASO MA2 in a wet clutch engine.
Store the bottle sealed and upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and keep the cap on to prevent moisture and dirt contamination.
Wear gloves and avoid prolonged skin contact; wash off any splashes with soap and water.
