Quantity1 filter element
  • Confirm the part suits your exact model and year before fitting - WR250F and WR450F airbox designs changed across the model run.
  • Before removing the old filter, block or cover the intake so dirt cannot fall into the inlet tract while the airbox is open.
  • Wipe out the airbox and filter cage with a clean rag before installing the new element.
  • Apply a thin, even smear of filter grease to the sealing flange so the element seals fully against the airbox face - most airbox dirt ingress comes from a poor seal, not the filter itself.
  • Seat the filter squarely on the cage and check the retaining bolt or clip is done up before closing the airbox.
  • Check and service the filter after every ride in dusty, sandy or muddy conditions, and at least at each routine service otherwise.
  • Use a cleaner and oil appropriate to the element's material, and follow the cleaning product's own directions - do not use petrol or harsh solvents.
  • Allow a cleaned element to dry completely before re-oiling and refitting; fitting a damp filter can draw moisture into the intake.
  • Store spare filters in a sealed bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and fuel or solvent fumes.
  • Replace the element rather than cleaning it once the foam or media is torn, hardened or no longer seals cleanly.
