- Confirm thread pitch and port size compatibility with your specific radial master cylinder before installation.
- Use a thread sealant rated for brake fluid contact if required by your master cylinder manufacturer — do not use PTFE tape on hydraulic brake fittings.
- Tighten to your master cylinder manufacturer's specified torque; do not over-tighten, as this can crack the switch body or damage the thread.
- Before riding, pump the brake lever/pedal several times to pressurise the system and verify the brake light activates correctly.
- Inspect the switch and surrounding area for brake fluid seepage after the first few rides and at each scheduled service.
- If the brake light fails to activate or illuminates erratically, check wiring connections first, then consider switch replacement.
- Brake fluid is corrosive — clean any spillage from painted or plastic surfaces immediately with water.
- Do not reuse a switch that has been overtightened, visibly cracked, or has shown signs of leaking.
