Confirm the mirror is the correct side and matches the thread and mounting arrangement of the mirror you are removing before fitting.
Hand-start the thread to avoid cross-threading, then tighten so the mirror is firm without forcing it — over-tightening can strip the mount or crack the housing.
Where a lock nut is used, set the mirror to your riding position first, then hold the stem and tighten the lock nut against the mount.
Adjust the mirror while seated on the scooter in your normal riding posture so you can see the lane behind and beside you.
Re-check the mount and lock nut after the first few rides, and periodically thereafter, as vibration can work fittings loose.
Clean the glass with a soft damp cloth or automotive glass cleaner; avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents, which can haze the glass and dull the housing.
Dry the mirror after washing or riding in the rain and avoid aiming a pressure washer directly at the mount or glass edge.
Replace the mirror if the glass is cracked or the stem is bent — a distorted or loose mirror is a roadworthiness issue.
