- Confirm the mirror is the correct side and matches the thread and mounting arrangement of the mirror you are removing before fitting.
- Hand-start the thread to avoid cross-threading, then tighten so the mirror is firm without forcing it — over-tightening can strip the mount or crack the housing.
- Where a lock nut is used, set the mirror to your riding position first, then hold the stem and tighten the lock nut against the mount.
- Adjust the mirror while seated on the scooter in your normal riding posture so you can see the lane behind and beside you.
- Re-check the mount and lock nut after the first few rides, and periodically thereafter, as vibration can work fittings loose.
- Clean the glass with a soft damp cloth or automotive glass cleaner; avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents, which can haze the glass and dull the housing.
- Dry the mirror after washing or riding in the rain and avoid aiming a pressure washer directly at the mount or glass edge.
- Replace the mirror if the glass is cracked or the stem is bent — a distorted or loose mirror is a roadworthiness issue.
