The Metzeler TR4 is a motorcycle inner tube for 17-inch wheels, covering a broad range of tyre sizes in both conventional and metric fitments.
This tube suits tube-type tyres used on road bikes, tourers, and dual-sport motorcycles. It spans metric sizes from 130/70 through to 160/60 and 130/90, as well as conventional widths from 4.50 to 5.10 — all on 17-inch rims. The TR4 straight metal valve is a standard fitment on most motorcycle wheels, allowing straightforward inflation with any tyre gauge or pump.
Metzeler is a well-established European motorcycle tyre brand, and this tube is designed to complement both their own tyre range and general aftermarket tube-type applications.

- Lightly dust the outside of the tube with talcum powder before fitting to prevent it sticking to the inside of the tyre.
- Partially inflate the tube before seating it in the tyre so it holds its shape and avoids folds or pinches during installation.
- Use proper tyre levers and take care not to pinch or nick the tube against the rim when mounting the tyre.
- Check and set tyre pressure after installation once the wheel is back on the bike.
- Check tyre pressure regularly with a calibrated gauge; never exceed the maximum pressure stated on the tyre sidewall.
- Store unused tubes in a cool, dark location away from direct sunlight, ozone sources (motors, fluorescent lights), and petroleum-based products, which degrade rubber.
- Inspect for slow punctures by partially inflating the tube and submerging it in water — air bubbles reveal the leak site.
- Replace the tube if it shows cracking, has been stretched beyond its size range, or carries multiple previous patches.
