The Metzeler TR4 is a multi-size inner tube designed for 18-inch motorcycle wheels, covering a wide range of both metric and imperial tyre sizes in a single SKU. It fits common 18-inch fitments spanning 3.25 through to 4.60-inch imperial sizes and 100/90 through to 110/90 metric equivalents, making it a practical stock item for workshops and riders who run 18-inch hoops.

Metzeler is a long-established European tyre and tube manufacturer with a heritage in motorcycle rubber. The TR4 denotes a standard straight valve, the most common valve type found on street and dual-sport motorcycles.

  • Before fitting, dust the inside of the tyre and the outside of the tube lightly with talcum powder to prevent the tube from twisting or sticking during installation.
  • Partially inflate the tube before inserting it into the tyre to give it shape and reduce the risk of pinching during mounting.
  • When seating the tyre bead, work around the rim gradually with tyre levers — avoid levering directly over the tube valve area.
  • Once mounted, inflate slowly to a low pressure (approximately 10–15 psi / 0.7–1.0 bar), check that the tube is not pinched or protruding, then inflate to the tyre manufacturer's recommended pressure for your specific tyre and load.
  • Do not exceed the maximum pressure stated on the tyre sidewall.
  • Inspect the tube for slow leaks by submerging in water or applying soapy water around the valve and bead area if a puncture is suspected.
  • Store unused tubes in a cool, dark, dry environment away from ozone sources (electric motors, fluorescent lighting) and petroleum products, which degrade rubber.
  • Avoid folding or creasing the tube during storage; coil loosely or store flat.
  • Replace the tube if it shows cracking, perishing, significant abrasion, or repeated slow leaks that cannot be reliably repaired.
