The Metzeler Racetec TD Slick is a full slick track tyre built for riders doing track days, ride days and club-level racing. This is the 120/70 R17 front in tubeless construction, marked NHS (Not for Highway Service) — it is a closed-circuit tyre and is not legal or suitable for road use.
Metzeler's approach with the TD (Track Day) Slick is a "plug and play" one: the sizes match common OE fitments and the single-ply radial casing behaves much like the tyre your bike came with, so you can bolt it on without reworking your suspension set-up. The low Tg polymer compound comes up to temperature quickly, which means tyre warmers become an option rather than a requirement and the front is working from the first corner of a session.
Note: the reversible, symmetric-casing feature promoted across the Racetec TD Slick range applies to the rear sizes only — this listing is for the front tyre. Fitting and balancing should be carried out by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician.

- Track and closed-circuit use only — this tyre is marked NHS (Not for Highway Service) and must not be used on public roads.
- Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using proper machinery; observe the rotation direction marking on the sidewall when mounting.
- Check cold pressures before every session with an accurate gauge and adjust to the pressures recommended by your tyre supplier, technician or the Metzeler technical data for your bike and circuit — do not run road pressures as a default.
- Scrub in a new set with two or three progressively harder laps before pushing for lap times, so the surface releases and the compound reaches its working range evenly.
- Tyre warmers are not required thanks to the quick warm-up compound, but if you choose to use them, follow the warmer manufacturer's temperature and duration settings.
- Allow the tyre to cool between sessions rather than forcing rapid cooling, and inspect for blistering, tearing, cuts, embedded debris or exposed cords after each outing.
- If you see cold tearing or uneven graining, review pressures and riding-in temperature before the next session rather than continuing on the same set-up.
- Store tyres upright or laid flat in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors and welders, fuels, oils and solvents.
- Clean only with water and mild soap; never dress the tread or sidewalls with silicone or tyre-shine products, and do not use tyre-fitting solvents on the tread surface.
- Retire the tyre once the slick surface is worn through to the wear indicators or carcass, or if the casing has been damaged, run flat or repaired — slicks should not be repaired for track use.
