The Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra is a long-distance touring and cruiser tyre built for riders who cover serious kilometres. This listing is the 130/80B17 65H front fitment in tubeless (T/L) construction, part number M2318200.
It is aimed at big tourers, V-twin cruisers and their custom variants, where a flat, wide profile and a hard-wearing tread pattern matter more than outright sport performance. Metzeler's focus with the ME 888 was mileage without giving up composure, so the profile, casing, tread pattern and compound were developed together — spreading footprint stress toward the sidewall, stiffening the tread against distortion, and using abrasion-resistant polymers to slow the wear process.
A silica-rich compound and a tread pattern evolved from the ME 880 handle water evacuation and chemical grip on wet roads, so the tyre keeps working through the seasons rather than just in the dry. Sold individually.

- Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using appropriate equipment — never attempt to fit or bead a motorcycle tyre by hand.
- Confirm the 130/80B17 65H size and the 65H load and speed ratings suit your motorcycle before fitting; check your owner's manual or handbook for the approved fitment.
- This is a tubeless (T/L) tyre and must be fitted to a rim rated for tubeless use, with a serviceable valve — replace the valve and seal at every tyre change.
- Ride gently for the first few hundred kilometres to scuff in the new tread surface; avoid hard acceleration, heavy braking and deep lean angles until the release agents have worn off.
- Set inflation pressures to the figures specified by your motorcycle manufacturer, and always check them when the tyre is cold — not after riding.
- Check pressures regularly, and increase them in line with the manufacturer's recommendations when carrying a pillion or luggage on long touring runs.
- When replacing the front tyre, inspect the wear on the rear — pairing a worn rear with a new front can upset handling and stability.
- Inspect the tread and sidewalls before rides for cuts, embedded objects, bulges or uneven wear, and check the tread wear indicators.
- Clean with mild soapy water and a soft brush; keep petrol, solvents, brake cleaner and tyre-shine dressings off the tread and sidewalls.
- Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and any chemical contamination.
- Do not exceed the tyre's marked load and speed ratings, and replace any tyre that has been run flat, punctured in the sidewall or otherwise structurally damaged.
