Description
Description
The Metzeler Cruisetec is a performance cruiser tyre built for heavy, high-torque machines where handling has traditionally been a compromise. This is the 180/70B16 77H rear fitment in tubeless construction, suited to V-twin cruisers, baggers and power cruisers running this size.
Metzeler borrowed profiles and carcass thinking from its sport-touring tyres, so the Cruisetec turns in more willingly and holds a chosen line with less effort than a typical stock cruiser tyre — solo or two-up. The dual-compound rear pairs a harder centre strip for mileage with silica-rich shoulder compounds that warm quickly and grip on cold or wet asphalt.
The tread pattern and constant-curvature contour are designed to wear evenly, so steering feel and contact-patch behaviour stay consistent as the tyre ages rather than falling away in the second half of its life. Compound and structure are also tuned to smooth contact-patch pulsation, which helps the tyre work predictably with ABS and other electronic rider aids, including older systems.
Key Features
Key Features
- 180/70B16 77H rear fitment, tubeless (TL)

Operations & maintenance
Operations & maintenance
Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician using the correct machinery — do not attempt home fitting.
Check that 180/70B16 is an approved fitment for your motorcycle and rim width before ordering; refer to the owner's manual or placard.
As a tubeless tyre, it requires an undamaged, corrosion-free rim bead seat and a sound tubeless valve — replace the valve at every tyre change.
Scrub in the new tyre gently for roughly the first 100 km, avoiding hard acceleration, heavy braking and full lean angles until the release agent and surface gloss have worn off.
Set and check pressures cold (before riding), using the pressures specified by your motorcycle manufacturer for solo or two-up/loaded riding — not the maximum figure moulded on the sidewall.
Check pressures at least fortnightly and before long rides; under-inflation causes overheating, irregular wear and vague steering on heavy cruisers.
Inspect regularly for cuts, embedded objects, bulges, sidewall cracking and uneven or stepped wear, and have any damage assessed before riding.
Replace the tyre before tread depth reaches the wear indicators or the Australian legal minimum of 1.5 mm across the tread.
Never exceed the tyre's load and speed rating, and re-balance the wheel if you notice new vibration after a puncture repair or wheel removal.
Clean with mild soap and water only; keep petrol, solvents, brake fluid, chain lube and tyre dressings off the tread and sidewalls.
Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, ozone sources such as electric motors, and sharp edges.
