Description
Description
The Metzeler Block C Touring Spec is a classic-pattern tube-type tyre in 4.00-18, built for medium and small capacity motorcycles. Its traditional block tread is paired with a modern rubber compound, so the period-correct look of a 1950s or 1960s machine comes with grip that suits everyday riding on today's roads.
It is a bi-directional tyre, which means the same casing can be fitted front or rear depending on your build. Metzeler uses the same compound at both ends, giving a consistent feel as the bike rolls into lean rather than one axle behaving differently from the other.
Best suited to riders restoring or maintaining vintage and retro machines who want original-style appearance without giving up wet-weather confidence, even-wearing tread and long service life.

Operations & maintenance
Operations & maintenance
Have the tyre fitted and balanced by a qualified motorcycle tyre technician — do not attempt roadside or DIY fitting with levers alone, as bead damage is easy to cause and hard to see.
This is a tube-type (T/T) tyre and must be run with a suitable inner tube; fit a new tube rather than reusing an old one, and check the rim tape covers the spoke nipples.
Scrub in the new tyre gently for the first 100 to 150 km, avoiding hard acceleration, heavy braking and full lean angles until the release agent has worn off the surface.
Check inflation pressure when the tyre is cold, before riding, and set it to the pressure specified in your motorcycle's owner's manual or on the swingarm/chain guard placard — not to a figure from the tyre sidewall.
Re-check pressures at least fortnightly and before any long ride; tube-type assemblies can lose pressure more readily than tubeless.
Inspect regularly for cuts, embedded stones, bulges, sidewall cracking and uneven or feathered wear, and have any damage assessed before riding.
Replace the tyre once the tread reaches the wear indicators or the minimum legal depth in your state, whichever comes first.
Clean with mild soap and water only; keep petrol, brake fluid, solvents and silicone-based tyre shine off the tread and sidewalls, as these attack the rubber and can reduce grip.
Store spare tyres upright in a cool, dry, dark place away from direct sunlight, and away from electric motors or battery chargers, which generate ozone that degrades rubber.
As a bi-directional tyre it can be used front or rear, but once fitted keep it running in the same rotational direction; if you swap it to another position, refit it the same way round.
