The Merlin Legacy is a short-cuff leather riding glove from Merlin's Heritage range, built around a soft, supple goat leather upper that stays flexible in the hand while offering solid abrasion resistance. Perforated panels let air move through the glove, making it a natural choice for spring and summer riding on classic, retro and naked bikes.

Protection comes from D3O armour across the knuckle, which stays soft and pliable in normal use and stiffens on impact, backed by a reinforced palm. Accordion stretch panels at the base of the fingers keep the glove easy to move in, and conductive touch points on the finger and thumb mean you can use a phone or sat-nav without taking the glove off. Supplied in dark brown with a Merlin branded snap-stud cuff.

Try the gloves on before riding — leather gloves should fit snugly at first, as goat leather softens and moulds to the hand with use.
Make sure the snap-stud cuff is fastened before every ride so the glove stays secured on the hand.
Clean by wiping with a soft, damp cloth; do not machine wash, tumble dry or dry clean.
Avoid solvents, petrol, degreasers and harsh detergents, which will dry out and damage the leather.
If the gloves get wet, let them air dry naturally at room temperature and away from direct sunlight, heaters and exhaust pipes — forced heat will shrink and harden the leather.
Treat occasionally with a leather conditioner suited to garment leather to keep the goat leather supple, and keep conditioner off the D3O knuckle armour and the conductive fingertip touch points.
Keep the conductive finger and thumb tips clean and dry for reliable touchscreen and sat-nav use.
Store flat or lightly folded in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight; avoid leaving them compressed under heavy gear for long periods.
These are perforated summer gloves and are not waterproof or thermally lined — expect airflow through the panels in cool or wet conditions.
Inspect the leather, seams and knuckle armour periodically and replace the gloves after a crash or if the leather or stitching is torn.
