Motobatt batteries are built using Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology, a design that has revolutionised the motorcycle, ATV, lawnmower, and small engine industries. Featuring QuadFlex technology, each battery incorporates a unique four-terminal design with two positive and two negative terminals, plus height spacers to allow for an almost universal fit. Each battery plate is wrapped in a fibrous glass mat that absorbs all liquid electrolytes and cushions the plates to prevent vibration damage. This design minimises the risk of short circuits or broken plate welds, common causes of battery failure. The thicker, heavier plates used in Motobatt’s construction further enhance durability and performance.

Compared to standard wet-flooded batteries, AGM batteries have a significantly lower self-discharge rate. As a high amp-hour AGM battery, Motobatt can discharge more deeply and recover repeatedly under vehicle alternator charging or through maintenance charging, something conventional flooded batteries cannot endure without premature failure.

No activation required — the battery is factory activated and fully charged, so it can be fitted straight from the box without adding acid or giving it an initial charge.
Check the tray before fitting: use the supplied 20mm bottom and 13mm back spacers to take up slack so the battery sits firm and cannot move under vibration.
Choose the terminal pair that best suits your cable routing, then fit the unused posts with the supplied caps to prevent accidental shorts against the frame or tray.
Use the supplied M6 screws and Allen wrench, connect positive first and negative last on installation (negative first on removal), and nip the screws up snugly — do not overtighten, as the terminals are threaded inserts.
Use the spare terminals for accessories such as heated grips, driving lights or a charge lead rather than stacking multiple ring terminals on one post.
Only charge with a charger that has an AGM or sealed lead-acid setting; a low-amperage smart charger is ideal. Do not use a high-output boost or bulk charger, and never use a charger intended for gel batteries.
If the bike is stored or ridden only occasionally, put it on a maintenance charger periodically. AGM self-discharges slowly, but leaving any lead-acid battery flat for long periods causes permanent capacity loss.
Store off the bike in a cool, dry place, charged, and away from direct heat sources. Top up the charge before returning it to service.
Keep the case and terminals clean and dry — wipe with a damp cloth and dry off. Do not use solvents on the case, and do not pressure-wash directly at the battery or its terminals.
The battery is sealed: never attempt to open it, drill it or add fluid, and do not expose it to naked flame.
If cranking becomes slow, have the charging system checked as well as the battery — a faulty regulator/rectifier will flatten or cook an otherwise healthy AGM battery.
