The Motobatt MPLXHK-P is a Pro Lithium motorcycle starting battery built for riders who want to shed weight without giving up cranking power. At roughly a third of the weight of a comparable lead-acid battery, it still delivers 200 cranking amps for strong, repeatable starts across a wider temperature range.

It is aimed at race, track and performance road use, where every kilogram counts and the bike is started often. Very low idle discharge means it holds charge through long periods off the bike, and Motobatt's Cell Balancing Circuit and Protection Circuit Board manage the cells during both charging and discharging for consistent output and a long service life.

Please note this is a high-performance starting battery only. It is not suited to bikes with a constant parasitic draw such as alarms, clocks, trackers or heated grips, and it must be charged with a lithium-specific charger.

  • Around 3x lighter than an equivalent conventional lead-acid battery
  • 200 CA cranking output for reliable, repeated starts
  • 2.5 Ah capacity
  • Rated for over 2000 charge cycles, against roughly 500 for lead-acid
  • Very low idle discharge — retains charge after more than a year of inactivity
  • Short recharge time compared with lead-acid batteries
  • Cell Balancing Circuit (CBC) controls charge and discharge in use, not only while on the charger
  • Protection Circuit Board (PCB) reduces the risk of thermal runaway and premature failure
  • Over-charge protection activates at 15.6 V pack voltage or 3.90 V on any individual cell
  • CBC allows the battery to be recharged after going flat (below 10 V)
  • EVA 1 spacer (80 x 64 x 5 mm) packs the battery out to 54 mm wide for a snug fit in wider trays

Listed applicationListed by supplier for Honda / Kawasaki applications — confirm fitment against your bike's battery specification and tray dimensions
  • Charge only with a charger designed for lithium motorcycle batteries — using a lead-acid, desulphating or trickle charger can damage the battery and will void the warranty.
  • Motobatt recommends Tech 1 or Fat Boy chargers to maintain the battery and get the best performance and service life.
  • Do not fit to a bike with a constant parasitic draw such as an alarm, tracker, clock or heated grips; this battery is intended as a starting battery only.
  • Observe polarity when installing: connect the positive lead first and the negative last, and reverse that order when removing.
  • Make sure the battery cannot move in the tray — fit the EVA 1 spacer (80 x 64 x 5 mm) to pack the battery out from 49 mm to 54 mm wide where the tray is oversized.
  • Keep terminals clean and the terminal bolts firm, but do not overtighten them.
  • Recharge promptly if the battery is run flat; the cell balancing circuit allows recovery from below 10 V, but repeated deep discharging will reduce capacity over time.
  • For storage, charge the battery and keep it in a cool, dry place — idle discharge is very low, so it will hold charge through extended lay-ups, but check the voltage before returning the bike to service.
  • If the battery goes flat repeatedly, have the bike's charging system output and any parasitic draw checked before assuming a battery fault.
  • Do not crush, pierce, dismantle or expose the battery to excessive heat, and stop using it if the case is swollen, cracked or damaged.
