The Maxxis TR4 inner tube is a standard-duty butyl rubber tube sized for 18-inch rear wheels running 2.75-18 or 3.00-18 tyres. It is part of the Maxxis off-road, MX and ATV tube range, built to balance durability with everyday practicality rather than chase the lightest possible weight.
Suited to trail, motocross and general off-road riding, it uses the straight TR4 valve stem, so check that your rim's valve hole and any rim lock arrangement match before ordering. A sensible spare to keep in the workshop or the trail pack alongside your tyre levers.

- Confirm the tube size matches your tyre (2.75-18 or 3.00-18) and that your rim takes a TR4 straight valve before fitting.
- Inflate the tube just enough to give it shape before installing, so it sits evenly inside the tyre without folds or twists.
- Dust the tube lightly with talc or use a tyre-fitting lubricant to reduce chafing between the tube and the tyre carcass.
- Use tyre levers carefully and keep them clear of the tube — pinching during fitment is the most common cause of early failure.
- Make sure the valve stem sits square to the rim and that any rim lock is tightened after seating the bead; a leaning valve stem indicates the tyre has moved on the rim.
- Always fit a new rim band or check the existing one, and remove any spoke ends or burrs protruding into the well.
- Set and check tyre pressures to your motorcycle manufacturer's recommendation, and re-check before each ride as tubes lose pressure over time.
- Store spare tubes flat or loosely rolled in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, fuel, oils and solvents.
- Replace rather than patch a tube that has torn at the valve base or split along a seam.
- Carry a spare tube, levers and a pump on longer off-road rides.
