Operations & maintenance

Clean the outer shell with a soft damp cloth and mild soap; avoid petroleum-based solvents or abrasive cleaners, which can degrade the shell finish.
Clean the visor with a visor-specific cleaner or mild soapy water; wipe gently with a microfibre cloth to avoid scratching.
Where interior padding is removable, hand-wash with mild detergent and allow to air-dry completely before refitting — do not tumble-dry.
Store the helmet in a ventilated helmet bag away from direct sunlight, fuel vapours, and chemical fumes.
Do not apply stickers, paint, or aftermarket adhesives to the shell without first confirming compatibility with M2R, as some substances can weaken polycarbonate shells.
Inspect the chin strap, retention system and buckle regularly for signs of wear, fraying or damage; replace if compromised.
Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no external damage is visible — the internal EPS liner can be damaged without showing obvious signs.
As a general guideline, consider replacing the helmet after five years of use or sooner if the shell, liner or padding show visible deterioration.
