Replace buckles as a pair so both boots close with the same tension and look consistent.
After fitting, check the buckle engages fully through its full range of adjustment before riding.
Check buckle security and fastener tightness before each ride, and again after the first few rides following a replacement.
Clean mud, sand and grit out of the buckle teeth and strap slots after every ride — trapped debris is the main cause of poor engagement and premature wear.
Wash with warm water and mild soap only; avoid solvents, degreasers, petrol and high-pressure washers aimed directly at the closure.
Dry boots and buckles naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
Replace any buckle that is cracked, deformed or no longer latches positively rather than attempting to repair it.
Store boots in a cool, dry place with buckles lightly latched to hold the straps in shape.
