- Inspect the lever pivot bolt and bushing for wear or play at each service interval; replace if movement is detected.
- Lubricate the pivot point periodically with a light all-purpose grease to prevent seizing and ensure smooth lever action.
- Check that the lever-mounting bolt is torqued to the manufacturer specification for your KTM model after installation.
- Wipe the lever clean with a damp cloth; avoid harsh solvents or pressure washing directly at the pivot, as this can displace lubricant.
- After any off-road use or drop, inspect the lever for cracks or bends before riding — a compromised lever can fail under braking load.
- Store the spare lever in a dry location to prevent corrosion at the pivot bore.
