Description

The SHAD Sissy Bar Backrest Kit is a model-specific pillion backrest designed for the Kawasaki Vulcan S 650. It bolts to the bike using SHAD's dedicated fitting kit, so there's no drilling, cutting or guesswork about where the hardware goes.

It's aimed at riders who carry a passenger regularly, or who want the cruiser stance a sissy bar gives the back of the bike. The backrest gives the pillion something solid to lean against on longer runs, which makes a noticeable difference on highway stints and touring days.

The kit also doubles as a luggage foundation: it can be paired with SHAD's NATDN or LSB-NADTNN universal mounting rack to carry a top case behind the backrest.

Operations & maintenance

Fit using the model-specific hardware supplied in the kit, following SHAD's fitting instructions and the bolt sequence they specify — do not substitute fasteners.
Re-check all mounting bolts after the first ride and again after roughly 100 km, as fittings can settle once loaded.
Inspect the mounts periodically for looseness, and check again after any heavy-luggage trip, track-style riding or rough-road use.
Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth; avoid solvents, petrol, degreasers and abrasive pads, which can dull or damage the finish.
Avoid directing a pressure washer at the mounting points, as forced water can strip lubricant and drive grit into the joints.
Dry the assembly after wet rides and wipe away road salt and grime promptly to reduce the risk of corrosion, particularly on coastal roads.
If you fit a top case using the SHAD NATDN or LSB-NADTNN rack, load the case within the case manufacturer's stated limit and keep heavier items low and forward.
Do not use the sissy bar or backrest as a lifting point, tie-down anchor, or stand support.
Touch up any paint chips or scratches promptly to protect the underlying metal.
Remove or store the kit's original fasteners if you take it off the bike, so refitting is done with the correct hardware.
