The Keihin Main Jet #185 Hex is a direct-replacement carburetor main jet for use in Keihin carburettors, designed for riders and mechanics undertaking carburetor re-jetting or tuning. The hex-head design allows straightforward installation and removal with a flat-blade screwdriver or jet tool.

- Inspect each jet for burrs or debris before installation — even new jets should be visually checked.
- Use a proper flat-blade jet screwdriver or jet tool sized to the hex; an ill-fitting tool can damage the soft head and make removal difficult.
- Tighten snugly by hand — over-tightening a main jet can crack the carburettor bowl threads or distort the jet seat.
- Before re-jetting, drain the float bowl fully and allow the carburettor to dry before installing the new jet.
- Never clean jets with wire or drill bits; use compressed air or carburettor cleaner spray directed through the orifice to clear blockages.
- Store unused jets in a sealed container, away from moisture, to prevent oxidation of the orifice.
- Label or bag removed jets by size immediately — mix-ups between similar sizes cause hard-to-diagnose fuelling problems.
- When tuning, change one jet size at a time and test ride under consistent conditions before moving further up or down in size.
