  • When removing or installing hex jets, use a correctly sized hex socket to avoid rounding the head — do not use pliers or adjustable tools directly on the jet.
  • Ensure the carburettor bowl is fully drained and the fuel supply is off before removing any jets.
  • Clean the jet orifice with carburettor cleaner spray and allow to air dry; never use wire or drill bits to clear the orifice, as this alters the calibrated opening and ruins the jet.
  • Inspect the jet for varnish or sediment build-up during routine carburettor servicing, typically at each service interval or after extended storage.
  • When re-installing, tighten snugly by hand first, then with a socket — overtightening can strip the soft brass thread in the carburettor body.
  • Store unused jets in a sealed bag or container away from moisture to prevent oxidation of the brass.
  • When jetting up or down for altitude, temperature, or airbox/exhaust modifications, change one jet size at a time and test ride to assess the effect before making further changes.
