HJC I71 Helmet - SIMO MC-1

Clean the outer shell with mild soap and lukewarm water applied with a soft cloth; avoid petroleum-based solvents, petrol, or abrasive cleaners as these degrade polycarbonate.
Clean the visor by soaking it briefly in warm water to loosen insects and road film before wiping — never dry-wipe a visor, as this scratches the surface.
If fitted, remove the Pinlock insert before soaking the visor, and clean the insert separately with water only — no alcohol or solvents.
Remove cheek pads and the interior liner and hand-wash in cool water with mild detergent; allow to air-dry fully before refitting.
Operate the SunShield slider mechanism regularly to prevent stiffening; do not force it if it feels stiff — check for debris around the mechanism first.
Store the helmet in a ventilated helmet bag away from direct sunlight, UV light, and fuel vapour, as all of these degrade EPS foam and shell integrity over time.
Do not hang the helmet by its chin strap for extended periods, as this can distort the EQRS buckle mechanism.
Replace the helmet immediately after any significant impact, even if no visible damage is present — EPS foam does not recover after a single-use compression.
As a general safety guideline, consider replacing any helmet after five years of use, as EPS foam and shell materials degrade with age regardless of visible condition.
