Operations & maintenance

Confirm the HF204 is the correct filter for your make, model and year before fitting — application lists vary by market and production year.
Replace the oil filter at every oil change, following the service interval and oil specification in your motorcycle's owner's manual.
Warm the engine briefly before draining so the old oil and contaminants flow out more completely, taking care with hot components.
Smear a thin film of clean engine oil onto the filter's sealing gasket before fitting so it seats properly and can be removed next service.
Fit by hand until the gasket contacts the mounting face, then tighten to the torque specified by your motorcycle manufacturer — do not over-tighten, and avoid using an impact tool.
Refill with the correct grade and quantity of oil, run the engine, then check the filter area for leaks and re-check the oil level once it has settled.
Keep the filter in its packaging in a clean, dry place until installation so debris cannot enter the ports.
Do not attempt to clean and reuse a used oil filter; dispose of the old filter and waste oil through a council or workshop recycling facility rather than in general waste.
