The Givi RP3117 is a model-specific engine skid plate for the Suzuki V-Strom 1050, shaped to follow the lines of the bike and give the big adventure tourer a more purposeful, off-road look. It shields the vulnerable underside of the engine — including the sump area, exhaust headers and oil filter — from rocks, ruts and debris thrown up on gravel, dirt and rough sealed roads.

It suits V-Strom 1050 riders who tour on mixed surfaces or venture onto unsealed roads and want proper underbody protection without a workshop visit. Everything needed for fitting is supplied, and installation is done with simple hand tools.

Please note: this plate is not compatible with the V-Strom 1050 XT.

  • Model-specific fit for the Suzuki V-Strom 1050 (non-XT)

  • Confirm your bike is a standard V-Strom 1050 and not the XT version before fitting — the plate is not compatible with the XT.
  • Fit using the supplied brackets and hardware with simple hand tools; make sure the plate sits square and does not contact the exhaust, hoses, cables or radiator lines.
  • Re-check all fasteners after the first ride and periodically after that, particularly following off-road use where vibration and impacts can loosen mounts.
  • Rinse off mud, sand and road salt after riding on unsealed roads or in wet conditions, then dry the plate and brackets to limit corrosion.
  • Clean with mild soapy water and a soft cloth or brush; avoid harsh solvents and abrasive pads that can mark the aluminium or damage the powder-coated brackets.
  • Inspect the plate and mounts regularly for dents, cracks, elongated bolt holes or bent brackets after any significant impact, and replace damaged parts rather than riding on them.
  • Remove the plate if it restricts access when changing the engine oil or oil filter, and refit it to the correct alignment afterwards.
  • Touch up deep scratches or chips on powder-coated brackets to prevent rust taking hold.
  • Do not use the skid plate as a jacking or lifting point for the motorcycle.
